Three children, two adults injured in north Tampa crash

TAMPA — Police are investigating a crash that injured at least five people including three children in north Tampa on Thursday.

The crash happened shortly after 8 a.m. when a motorist heading east on Bougainvillea Avenue at a high rate of speed struck five pedestrians on the south side of the street near Marvy Avenue, Tampa police said.

Three children and two adults were taken to local hospitals. One of the children taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital was listed in critical condition, police said.

The driver remained on scene and was being interviewed by investigators.

A Tampa Fire Rescue ambulance responding to the crash collided with another vehicle nearby, police said. Three people involved in that crash were taken to the hospital.

No other details were immediately released.
