According to the authorities, Gary Bradford, 33, Justin Rankin, 28, and Tajuan Burton, 18, allegedly helped hide Justin Stumler and Jeremy Hunt from the garbage in Louisville Penitentiary, the television channel said.

According to a press release from the Louisville Metro Penitentiary Department, Stumler and Hunt escaped around 10 pm Saturday, WAVE reported. Both men are minimum security inmates and worked in the prison kitchen, the television channel reported.

Police said Bradford, Rankin and Burton helped Stumler and Hunt get into the garbage cans and took them to a loading dock.

Jeffersontown police arrested Stumler on August 27 for charging motor vehicle theft, possession of a handgun by a convicted criminal, possession of drugs and possession of drug accessories. Hunt was arrested on June 28 by the Louisville Metro Police Department on charges of burglary for crime, WHAS reported.

A citizen saw the detainees get out of the trash and inform the authorities, reported WDRB.

Stumler and Hunt remain on the run. According to the Spencer County Sheriff's Office, the couple was seen Sunday morning near the border between Spencer and Bullitt counties.

The Louisville Metro Police Service has requested that anyone with information about the escapees call (502) 574-5673.
