Many people were killed and injured during a shootout at a Rite Aid distribution center in Maryland, officials said.

The only suspect, who has not been identified, is in critical condition in a local hospital, said Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler at a press conference on Thursday morning.

Three people were killed in the shooting in Aberdeen, Harford County, the Associated Press reported.

Gahler confirmed that several people were injured and that there were many deaths. No law enforcement official fired gunshots, Gahler said. He refused to answer the journalists' questions.

Authorities have reacted to the roads from Spesutia and Perryman to Perryman, outside Aberdeen, where Enterprise Business Park is located. The deputies answered at 9:09

In addition to the Rite Aid warehouse, the tenants of the business park are Zenith Freight Lines, TruAire, Clorox Company and Maines Paper & Food Service.

The FBI Baltimore office and special agents from the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms also participated in the investigation.

A reunification center was set up at the Level Volunteer Fire Co. in Havre de Grace.

The shooting comes 11 months after a shootout at a kitchen countertop business in Edgewood, less than 10 miles away. Three people were killed and two others injured during the attack of October 2017.

Governor Larry Hogan said he "was watching the situation closely." "Our prayers are with everyone who has been touched, including our first responders. The state is ready to offer any support, "he tweeted.

The Church Creek Elementary School was placed in a modified lockdown.
