Tiger Woods made a lot of noise on Thursday at the BMW Championship.
The 42-year-old came out in under 29, was 7 and under 10 and at one point was led by three. In the end, it was an 8-under 62 for Woods and a 18-hole advance share. What a Thursday for Tiger!
What can he do for a reminder? Will he put a lead and go to the weekend in the driver position to win?
We will follow Woods' second round, shot at close range, at Aronimink. Stay down …
Hole n ° 15: By 4, 514 meters
OFF THE TEE (11:35 ET): Tiger takes the pilot but misses the one on the left. It all depends on the lie.
Hole n ° 14: By 3, 216 meters
OFF THE TEE (11:25 ET): Tiger performs a draw that ends about 30 feet under the hole. This should be a two-putt by.
ON GREEN (11:29 ET): A good ride, but this one is just a little smaller. Good speed and it ends up a few inches from the cup. Another tap-in by.
TIGER THE DAY: 1 under 14 years (9 less than T-2)
Hole n ° 13: By 4, 364 meters
OFF THE TEE (11:12 ET): This is a pretty low draw on the right side of the fairway with an iron. He continues to be a marvel on the tee.
PLAN OF APPROACH (11:15 ET): A 9-iron 134 yards and it was a yard or two of brilliant execution. The tiger lands 10 feet to the left and beyond the cut, but it just flies over a slope. If Tiger lands shorter, it probably takes this slope to the hole and maybe within 5 feet. Instead, his ball ends above this slope and leaves him a 20-foot slippery for the birdie.
ON GREEN (11:20 ET): He had to be careful with that one and he was doing very well. This one reaches about 6 inches in length and to the right of the cup. By simple Unfortunately, he is now four behind while Schauffele continues to play hot golf.
TIGER THE DAY: 1 under 13 years (9 less than T-2)
Hole n ° 12: By 4, 468 meters
OFF THE TEE (10:56 ET): This is a 3-wood pitch in the center right of the fairway. He just scratched the tee.
PLAN OF APPROACH (11h02 ET): Tiger is more and more called. He pulls it 160+ directly on the flag and it ends about 10-12 feet from the cup. This is a good example and three good birdies in four holes.
ON GREEN (11:08 ET): So, so close. Tiger was on a good line, but this ball just drifts right and crawls on the right edge. An inch to the left, and it falls on the right side of the cup for the birdie. He must be content with parity and he falls to three while Schauffele is 12 years old.
TIGER THE DAY: 1 below 12 (9 below T-2)
Hole n ° 11: By 4, 408 meters
OFF THE TEE (10:40 ET): It's a nice break with the driver in the center of the field. The aisles are certainly wide at Aronimink, but Tiger continues to impress with the big stick. He hit 7/9 fairways today.
PLAN OF APPROACH (10:47 am ET): It was a manual. He drops this one a bit from 95 yards and does not play a super spinner. This ball lands about 10 feet beyond the cup, jumps forward and then turns comfortably with the help of a slope and comes to rest 2 feet to the right of the cup. Almost guaranteed another birdie here. It was just art there.
ON GREEN (10:54 ET): Tiger cleans that for a kick-in birdie. This gave rise to a frustrating day, but some birdies were a little turned. By the way, he has only two left.
TIGER THE DAY: 1 under 11 to 9 (9 subtotal, T-2)
Hole n ° 10: By 4, 451 meters
OFF THE TEE (10h27 ET): This wood 3 is just a bad move. He immediately loses it to the right and crushes it in some trees. The ball bounces well on the trees. A good break because it will probably not be blocked now. But it is in a juicy state, so it will be an interesting approach.
PLAN OF APPROACH (10h31 ET): This pin is at the back just above a slope, so it would be a miracle (or a brazen accident) if Tiger disputed that and recovered it there. This 173-yard 9-iron in a decent lie is fine while it finishes at 40-50 feet below the hole on the putting green. Not easy with two shots on this big slope, but it's good considering the driving.
ON GREEN (10h39 ET): Big Delay It's really hard to hit as hard as you can, but Tiger is doing a great job of driving this 18-inch distance from the online cup. He enters from there for par.
TIGER THE DAY: Even across 10 (8 sub total, T-3)
Hole n ° 9: By 5, 608 meters
OFF THE TEE (10:06 ET): It's a pilot and it's a fairly low ball that lands in the center and moves right into the center. This hole is playing LONNNNG, so I'm not sure that he can go in half from there. He will have about 300 rushing yards for his second.
PLAN OF APPROACH (10h14 ET): Tiger has 3-woods outside, as he tries to get there as far as possible … and it's solid. There was 309 rushing yards in cool and mild conditions, so that would never happen to green. But this ball ends in the fairway about 15 meters from the green. Leaves him pretty much on a 40-yard shot. It's a perfect holiday for his third.
AROUND THE GREEN (10h20 ET): This. Was. Pretty. Played a low ground that landed 20 feet below the hole, ran but had a little rotation to slow it down 18 inches from the hole. It was 10/10 run. It will be a rallying birdie to give it an opening equal to nine.
ON GREEN (10h21 ET): Yeah, a nice easy bird. While this first place seemed frustrating, Tiger is still tied for the second and third. Overall, despite milder conditions, it's actually much more difficult today because the course is much longer. A par of 35 is still not ideal, but it will be fine.
TIGER THE DAY: Even through 9 (8 sub total, T-2)
Hole # 8: Par 3, 199 yards
OFF THE TEE (9:53 AM ET): This iron 7 is a bit of a bailout. This pin is hidden on the back left, and Tiger can not challenge it. It's a bit tight and short. The ball barely reaches the front of the green and it will have 50 feet for the birdie.
ON GREEN (10h ET): Well, it was a tremendous speed. That leaves about 6 inches but gets to the hole. A fantastic shift and a tap-in. Tiger now arrives at a par 5. He could really use a birdie to at least get a mediocre small one.
TIGER THE DAY: 1 to 8 (7 subassembly, T-4)
Hole n ° 7: By 4, 393 meters
OFF THE TEE (9:35 ET): Tiger takes a 3-wood and this is just ideal because it lands in the center of the fairway, flourishes well over 30 meters and ends on the left side of the fairway (which is tilted from right to left). It will have a wide angle with just a corner.
PLAN OF APPROACH (9:40 ET): OK, another solid. Tiger lands about 15 feet from the hole, and he jumps a bit and comes back a bit close to the initial mark. So about 15 feet for the birdie. Ideally, he would have poked this approach. But he left that in a solid place and it's a second birdie look that he can absolutely drop. Tiger is now five, the birdies would be good.
ON GREEN (9:46 ET): Something is wrong with his putter today. This one was a good 18 inches to the right of the cup and was going to miss it all the way. He tries to make a difference, but something has to change quickly or he falls back after a round of electric opening.
TIGER THE DAY: 1 to 7 (7 subassembly, T-4)
Hole # 6: By 4, 413 yards
OFF THE TEE (9:20 ET): Another driver and another beauty. This one is located on the left side of the fairway, and it's awesome. If he drives like that all day, he should finally start to look great birdie.
APPROACH SHOT (9:25 ET): A pitching wedge of 132 yards and this one was perfect. Landed 15 feet from the flag, jumps forward and stops about 10 feet under the cup. It's more like that! This will leave him his first true birdie look of the day.
ON GREEN (9:31 am ET): Nope. It was always a right touch. This ends harmlessly a few inches from the cup. But it's a missed opportunity and not a big putt.
TIGER THE DAY: 1 to 6 (7 subtotal, T-4)
Hole n ° 5: By 3, 130 meters
OFF THE TEE (9:11 am): OK, let's go. A block of sand on this short track by 3 … And he throws it in front of the green. It looks like it caught the bunker, otherwise it's rough on an uphill slope. Just a terrible blow. Really, really poor there on a simple hole. This is a birdie hole and now he has to manage for par.
AROUND THE GREEN (9:15 ET): In the bunker and not a hard one. Tiger shows it, as this one lands about 10 feet from the cup, runs out and misses the right cut in inches. After nearly entering, this bullet sneaks about 4 feet. But still a great look to save the by.
ON GREEN (9:16 ET): Oof. Tiger gets the one who's gone to the left, he hits the left edge and the lips. It's a boguey AWFUL. Tiger needs to do this trick because he is late after this slow start.
TIGER THE DAY: 1 to 5 (7 subassembly, T-4)
Hole n ° 4: By 4, 465 meters
OFF THE TEE (8:56 ET): This is a lower beauty thrown in the center left of the fairway. This driver continues to be a weapon. Now, Tiger must resume his approach game on Thursday.
PLAN OF APPROACH (9h01 ET): This one from 153 yards … another solid shot but not great. It ends about 20 feet to the left of the hole. Once again, he does not give himself beautiful tunes. It's harmless here at first, but if it goes on all day, it's going to be late.
ON GREEN (9h04 ET): It was never hard enough. It laps idly to the left of the cup and ends at about a foot left and short. A tap-in by. He arrives at a very short par 3 now, it's a good opportunity for him to keep one.
TIGER THE DAY: Even through 4 (8 sub total, 4th)
Hole n ° 3: By 4, 445 meters
OFF THE TEE (8:39 ET): Tiger is going to pilot again and that is exactly what he wanted. A beautiful in the center right of the fairway. He does not back down, that's for sure.
PLAN OF APPROACH (8:44 ET): Tiger sees that this one is out of reach of 146 yards, and his useless approach to start this round continues. It's probably the best of the three, but it's still a ho-hum 15 to 20 feet under the hole. It will not hurt him at all, but he could definitely do better inside 150 meters in soft conditions.
ON GREEN (8:49 ET): This one was still a bit tight and it's about 3 feet behind. It was rather useless, but Tiger has no problem cleaning the par. Still, he ran two of his first three putts a bit by. Something to watch over there.
TIGER THE DAY: Even through 3 (8 sub total, T-3)
Hole n ° 2: By 4, 405 meters
OFF THE TEE (8:23 ET): Tiger went strong after this pilot, and it did not work. This one is a bit fired and seems to catch a fairway bunker out there. Otherwise, it's the hard way. Not a terrible blow, just a little bit and he can not find the short grass.
PLAN OF APPROACH (8:29 am): Tiger has actually found this bunker, and it is rather mediocre. Tiger was only 95 yards, but he failed to clean it completely and it lands and ends in the fairway in front of the green. In fact, he leapt forward when he landed, but he returned to the fairway. It is a few meters from the green, 35-40 feet from the hole. Should not be a chip.
AROUND THE GREEN (8:32 am): Tiger decided to do it because he was more inclined to do it when returning. A great effort over there, like this one, starts well to the left of the cup and goes back. He almost fell, but he rolled a few inches to the left and above the cup. Perfect speed, so there are only a few inches left for par. A date to come.
ON GREEN (8:32 am): Yeah, tap-in by. Tiger is already three, by the way, Xander Schauffele has reached 11 under.
TIGER THE DAY: Even through 2 (8 subassembly, T-2)
Hole # 1: By 4, 422 yards
OFF THE TEE (8:08 ET): And we left with the driver! It's a tasty dish on the right side of the fairway, so Tiger is where he left off.
APPROACH SHOT (8:14 ET): We start the day with a decent but not spectacular approach. The latter, 135 yards, lands about 15 feet to the right and under the hole. This will be a 20-foot title for the birdie under the hole. Conditions are much softer today, for your information.
ON GREEN (8:21 am): Judged from the distance on that one, he was closer to 25-30 feet and had to hit a slope. Tiger has become too focused to get it, while he performs this first putt at around 5 feet. But he is launching this comebacker directly. It was a little sloppy after a good drive, but we will take it. The Bogeys are killers on a course that can be even more unforgettable today in mild conditions.
TIGER THE DAY: Even through 1 (8 sub total, T-2)
