Tigers waste 2 leashes, extend the series of defeats to 6 games

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers lost a three-point lead but kept their losing streak more and more frustrating.

Jordan Zimmermann pitched five innings without scoring, but the coaching team twice coughed as the Oakland Athletics beat the Tigers 5-4 on Monday afternoon at Comerica Park.

The Tigers (36-43) have now lost six games in a row, their longest streak since September 27 of last year.

But Castellanos made a questionable point, crushing a quick 99-mph ball from Lou Trivino to the right field for a three-point home run to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead.
