Timeless fans (sorry, #clockblockers) have good reasons to rejoice again, and the stars of the NBC series also celebrate – where else? TimeTeam members Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett and many others tweeted their jubilant reactions to the news that the adventure drama of time travel would come back with a series finale film, and thanked the fans for their campaigns, helicopters and all:
Timeless The second season is over on a cliffhanger involving (spoiler alert!) their characters from an alternate timeline asking them for help to save Rufus de Barrett. (From where the #SaveRufus hashtag, of course.) The film will likely find the creators Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke who finish this story.
"While we would have liked to do another dozen seasons of Timeless it's the next best thing," Ryan and Kripke said in a statement. "We are excited to release the rescue boat for the last time and close our story.The studio, the network, the distribution and the team do all this for one reason: the fans. they deserve it, because the fans have made it possible and we thank them for their passion, their support and their helicopters, so you want to recover Rufus or what? "
The final Timeless will be broadcast later this year.
