Titans plan to use two QB Sunday against Texans

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) – Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel said on Friday he was hoping to face quarterback Marcus Mariota and Blaine Gabbert's replacement on Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Mariota did not participate in Friday's free practice for the second day in a row and was found to be limited and questionable on the team's last injury report. Mariota was injured at the elbow on a William Hayes coup while he was playing a fake game in a 27-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

"We evaluate," said Vrabel. We expect both guys to play in the game. We will have to do a lot of things to win this game, and I expect both to play at some point. Marcus will do everything to prepare. Each player will do their best to prepare on Sunday. It's our job as professional footballers and coaches, to exhaust all the resources, time and energy to get ready to play. "

The quarterback will play behind a fortunate offensive line that will miss left tackle Taylor Lewan, who suffered a concussion in the Dolphins game and did not practice all week. Striker Jack Conklin, who is still recovering from an operation of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in January, is also missing. Conklin's replacement – right tackle Dennis Kelly – was absent from the trials on Thursday and Friday due to illness.

There is good news for the Titans on the defensive side of the ball. Vrabel expects the team's two best choices, linebackers Rashaan Evans (thigh) and Harold Landry (ankle), play Sunday. Both were injured before the season and missed the dolphin game.

Landry, Kelly, linebacker Derrick Morgan (knee) and tight end Luke Stocker (calf) are all doubtful about the Titans' official injury report.

Safety Kendrick Lewis was ruled out for the second week in a row with a foot injury.
