MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The defeat of the season against the Dolphins was quite difficult.
Even worse, the Titans also lost the fin Delanie Walker late Sunday after an ankle injury.
Walker was kicked out of Hard Rock Stadium, his right leg in the air, after being injured in the final minutes.
"I have not seen him since he left the field," Titan coach Mike Vrabel said of Walker. "Our thoughts and prayers are with him. It was certainly not good where I was from.
Walker, in his 13th season in the NFL, was named to his third consecutive Pro Bowl in 2017 after leading the team with 74 receptions for 807 yards and three touchdowns. He was named Pro Bowl Offensive Player of the Year after capturing two touchdowns in the game, including an 18-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Walker suffered his injury after being overtaken by quarterback Blaine Gabbert with barely more than three minutes. Walker's right leg was stuck under the defender who tackled him on the play.
"That's the nature of the beast," Gabbert said. "There is a 100% injury rate in the NFL. You never like to see a guy go that way at the end of the game. We hope the best for Delanie, but we all know what we saw. It was bad.
In the locker room, players said they were praying for Walker, who had four catches for 52 yards on Sunday before his injury.
Walker was elected one of the captains of the team last week.
"He's a big piece of this team, a leader," said defensive lineman Jurrell Casey. "It's a vital piece of this organization. We will keep it in our prayers and pray for a speedy recovery.
Quarterback Marcus Mariota added, "I hope he'll come back as soon as possible. The guy is a stallion. He has been Mr. Reliable throughout his career. Whatever happens, the next guy has to intervene. But fortunately (he will have a speedy recovery) and he will come back. "
