The NFL season is finally underway. And with week 1 now in the books, fantastic football teams are by far one of two things. Perfect or without victory. There is no middle ground.
Well, unless tied up like the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers – which in some ways is even worse.
To say that it was a wild week is a euphemism. Khalil Mack's first game with the Chicago Bears included a defensive touchdown and a 17-point lead. There were two meteorological delays of more than two hours in Miami and an equal number of touchdowns per return. And in Los Angeles, Tyreek Hill reminded us all that the Kansas City Chiefs defense can be both awful and fantastic …
Kind of.
The thing about week 1, is that it's just a week. Yes, last week was our first look at this year's league teams releases (preseason shows, um, yes), but the sample size is too small to make definitive statements on the whole season. That does not mean we have not learned anything – we know that Buffalo's bills are terrible. But they are unlikely to lose every game 47-3.
The point is: do not react too much to a bad fantastic performance. Or a loss. The fantastic football season is a marathon, not a sprint. Stay on course
Well, except with the defense of New Orleans Saints. You have 48 fallen home by Ryan Fitzpatrick? You died for me.

If this match were better, it would be covered with sausage sauce. The Cardinals were offensive in the first week, winning less than 225 total yards and scoring just six points against a Redskins defense that no one will soon confuse with the 1985 Bears. Now, the Redbirds are heading to Los Angeles for face one of the most charged defenses of the NFL. Oh, and defending NFL defensive player of the year, Aaron Donald, will have had another week to put his legs under him. Other than that, there is not much to like here.

The Texans struggled defensively in Boston, which is not really a surprise. But everything will be fine soon. This week, the Texans are heading to Nashville to face a team of Titans who are turning after the week-long defeat of the Miami Dolphins. End of the race Delanie Walker is absent for the year with an ankle injury. Quarterback Marcus Mariota nudged and looked awful last week. And the tackle Taylor Lewan is in the NFL concussion protocol. This game goes well for JJ Watt and Co. so that passes are not followed – and Texans feast.

The gods of sequencing were not particularly kind to the Bears to open this season. After being torn apart by Aaron Rodgers, the Bears must now face an angry Russell Wilson. The fact is that Wilson is not only angry because the Seahawks lost to Denver. He's crazy because Seattle's O-line was nonexistent in the game. Khalil Mack and the Bears have fired Rodgers four times and forced three turnovers, one of which came back to get a score. The Bears are angry after the collapse of last week, but the first part of the game was a taste of the Bears defense that could be among the best in the NFL and fantasy football.

Beware of the offensive juggernaut Tampa Bay Buccaneers! Yes, Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Buccaneers have unleashed the most startling offensive explosion of Week 1 Sunday in the Big Easy, but it is much more likely that this is a stroke of luck at the beginning of a trend. That's not to say that Tampa was a great match for defenses in 2017 – the team was ranked in the middle of the pack. But the Eagles are one of the best defenses of the National Football League and should be able to exert constant pressure on Fitzpatrick. Shake last week and throw the Eagles as you normally would.
The Ravens were the administrators of that 47-3 beating bills received, and the defense also played the role. For the match, the Ravens allowed only 153 total yards, fired six bad Buffalo shifts and intercepted three interceptions en route to the top five of the week. The sled race is going to be tougher on Thursday night, but there is a three-word phrase that should be trusted by the people who ride the Ravens – in prime time Andy Dalton. It does not matter that Cincinnati was one of the best fantastic clashes in 2017.

Yes, the Chargers have just been smoked like a good Cuban cigar, giving 38 points to the Kansas City Chiefs in a match where Tyreek Hill went absolutely to the banana. But in fantasy football, you have to have a short memory with regard to team defenses. That's the case this week. The Buffalo Bills seemed to be the worst team in the NFL after being strangled by the Ravens in Week 1. The Bills barely reached 150 yards in the first week and had twice as many sacks ( three). Even a west coast team heading east for a 13 hour start and the propensity of the packers to lay eggs is not enough to scare me.

The Panthers held the Cowboys to just eight points in Week 1 and sacked Dak Prescott half a dozen times, but the lack of participation allowed the Panthers to climb to the bottom of the standings. take the Atlanta Falcons. The woes of the Atlanta red zone continued in 2018, and the Falcons allowed four sacks a week ago. I would not do roulettes on the Panthers' starting prospects on the road during Week 2, but their match is not as bad as you might think.

However, I am not ready to take the fantasy defense out of seventh place last year after a bad match. OK, terrible game. OK, biblically horrible game. The saints will be both angry and desperate Sunday against Cleveland. It's certainly a speculative call, but this week the Saints are bouncing back.

The Broncos won one of the most exciting games of Week 1: a 27-24 U-22 with the Seattle Seahawks in Mile-High City. The Broncos allowed a lot of yards and points in the game, but the team made up for that with a series of big games – Von Miller managed a Denver pass that raised six sacks and the Broncos forced three turnovers. Playing again at home against one of his most hated rivals, it is not unreasonable to expect a similar effort that at least brings Denver into low-end broadcast territory.

This is not a game for the weak, but the Cowboys should be available on the majority of waivers at Week 2.

This week, they are the winners of the bizarre-world business of Week 1 in Miami. The Dolphins finished as one of the top 10 fantasy defensemen in some points systems in the first week, mainly thanks to a kick return score. You can not count on them every week – if you could, the Kansas City Chiefs would be regulars in this article. But the Dolphins also allowed less than 250 yards total in Week 1 and a Jets team that was sixth in the NFL in fantastic points was allowed to defend in 2017 and starting a rookie quarter.

In most fantastic scoring systems, the Vikings were the No. 1 team defensemen of Week 1. And Khalil Mack's touchdown I talked about propelled the Bears into the top five in the standings. However, it was with DeShone Kizer at quarter. In the second half, Aaron Rodgers returns and reminds everyone that the Green Bay Packers are not a good opponent for defenses. The Vikings are almost impossible to sit on, but still … Aaron scares the Rodgers.

The defenses of the elite team of the second week have a special theme: many have less than ideal fights.
