Todd Frazier admits to having cheated the umps into believing that he had made a catch, but he vowed not to have planned it.
In Monday's game against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, the Mets third baseman plunged into the stands to trap a ball. After the fall, he showed the referee the ball, received the call and quickly threw the ball into the stands. The only problem was that it was not the ball struck by Alex Verdugo of the Dodgers.
It's a rubber ball that he caught after losing the true one when he fell. He said that at first he thought it was the real ball, but after quickly realizing that it was not the case, he instinctively sold the take to the judge.
"It's Hollywood," Frazier said Wednesday. "Sometimes you have to act a little bit."

Frazier could later be seen explaining what happened to his teammates in the dugout. He said he noticed a fan screaming at referee Mark Wegner's third goal to bring his attention to the real ball.
"I was trying to get out of there as fast as I could," Frazier said. "I saw someone pointing at the right ball and I thought," Okay, I'm just going to have to play this. " "I went into the dugout and I told people that I was stunned that I got out well."
SportsNet New York was the first media to report that Frazier simulated capture.
