Tom Arnold, who is working on a show on his search for Trump tapes of his time on "Apprentice," had a showdown with producer Mark Burnett on Sunday night, according to social media.

Arnold took Twitter to accuse the former "apprentice" producer of "strangling him at this huge Emmy night." Burnett's wife, Roma Downey, then posted a photo showing that she had a bruise in her left hand.

"I had that blue tonight when Tom Arnold tried to ambush my husband Mark and me at a charity event. Is your TV show worth it Tom? Please stop, "she said. Arnold replied to the tweet that he is filing a police report and "is suing you for defamation."

The Hollywood Reporter's report said it was unclear which event was referenced, but the "Evening Before" fundraiser was held Sunday night, and we know that Burnett attended.

The LAPD could not be reached by the Reporter or Fox News late Sunday night. Burnett did not respond publicly to Arnold, according to the report. A call Monday morning at his office was sent to voicemail.

Burnett did not tweet about the alleged encounter.

Matthew Belloni, the editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter, tweeted that he had spoken to Arnold's lawyer who had described the confrontation as an unprovoked attack by Burnett. Arnold claims to have a witness.

Vice announced that Arnold would be featured in a new show called "The Hunt for Trump Tapes" and would investigate the president's rumored recordings.

The series of eight episodes follows Arnold as he searches for supposedly trump records that would be potentially damaging. He interviews stars such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Penn Jillette, Judd Apatow and Rosie O'Donnell, as well as former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci.

Arnold claimed that Trump had used the word N and that he was "obviously racist," adding that the president's takeover of the NFL is due to the fact that he "does not like blacks".

Arnold's focus is on Burnett, who has noted hit series such as "Shark Tank" and "The Bible."

"I will continue to pound Mark Burnett until he shows America [the tapes]Arnold said during the Television Critics Association's press tour in July. "He sits next to Donald Trump and gives him a blanket and he never says a word. People are at the border. They tear off their children. It's cruel … and Mark Burnett says he's a Christian.
