We could all use good news, so thankfully, everyone's favorite actor, Tom Hanks, as Mr. Rogers is here.

In a new photo shared by Sony Pictures, the beloved actor poses in costume as none other than the beloved television host Fred Rogers. From the cherry red cardigan sweater to the bright blue sneakers to the crisp khakis, Hanks looks at Rogers' spitting image as it is portrayed at the entrance of a caravan. With a warm smile already in place, he seems ready to welcome us to the neighborhood, which is a good start.

News that Hanks had signed to represent Rogers in the upcoming Mister Rogers film, the biopic then entitled You are my friend was released in January, at a very excited anticipation. The now untitled film, which is directed by Marielle Heller, will be a friendship-based drama between Rogers and Tom Junod, a journalist who introduced Rogers to Squire magazine in 1998. It is due out in October 2019, which means we only have to wait a little over a year to see Hanks in all his glory inspired by Rogers.

Until then, Rogers fans can return to the musical and friendly world of his neighborhood with the recent documentary You are not my neighbor? who follows his career as a character trainer in the American imagination.

People seem very happy with this first look at Hanks.
