Sony Pictures released the first photo of Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers' character on Thursday, immediately giving fans around the world an explosion of joy. The 62-year-old Oscar winner smiles brightly at the camera with a bright red sweater over a button-down shirt and tie over khaki pants.
Hanks also wears gray-dyed hair and eyebrows, which gives him even more the impression of becoming the preferred television character of Rogers' untitled film.
Sony has also revealed that the film will be released in theaters in October 2019.

The director of the film, Marielle Heller, recently clarified the subject of the film stating that it would not be a biographical film.
