As much of the nation was captivated by a Senate hearing in Washington, DC on Thursday afternoon, Sony Pictures released a photographic balm. The father of America, Tom Hanks, Fred Rogers, wearing his cardigan, his pants and his sneakers, takes a first look at Mister Rogers' film currently in 2019.

Director Marielle Heller (The diary of a teenager) clarified earlier this year that her take on the artist's beloved children would not be a simple biopic. For a broader look at Rogers' life, audiences can watch the 2018 documentary You are not my neighbor? Instead, Heller said Weekly entertainment, This film will focus specifically on Rogers' real relationship with Squire journalist Tom Junod, who reluctantly took an assignment to cover the TV host in the late 1990s. Heller said the film will explore how "the whole world changes when we get in touch with Fred Rogers".

The original title of the film, You are my friend, comes from a song that Rogers wrote and performed at his long-time award-winning children's show, Mister Rogers neighborhood.

But the film is being renewed. Junod, who appeared in You are not my neighbor? will be played by the recent winner Emmy Matthew Rhys as a cynic whose vision of life is softened and enlightened by his interaction with Rogers. Junod enters his long profile with a lot of cynical resistance; he ends up as a man obviously changed. As Junod wrote in 1998:

My heart felt like a point, then, in this room, it opened and felt
like an umbrella. . . . He hit me, so, with my eyes closed, that
Fred Rogers – Mr. Rogers – drove me to
from the moment he answered the door. . . Once upon a time, you see, I
lost something, and prayed to get it back, but when I lost the
the second time I did not, and now that was the missing word, the
a shameless promise, the prayer I had been waiting for a very long time
time.

A performance that opens the eyes of Tom Hanks? It looks exactly like what we all need now. But it will be October 2019 that Rhys and Hanks warm hearts and tears nationwide.
