Tom Hiddleston finally confronts Marvel's fan theory that Loki simulated his own death

Nobody really dies in comic books. Of course, it seems like characters like Superman or Wolverine or half of the MCU are dead on the screen, but they usually find a way to get them back. And now, Marvel fans are throwing a rumor – to Tom Hiddleston, in fact – that Loki might not have died in Avengers: Infinity War after all.

Tell. In the opening scenes of Joe and Anthony Russo's summer blockbuster, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) meets his creator at the hands of Thanos (Josh Brolin), the Mad Titan. Only, at the ACE Comic Con in Chicago, Hiddleston told the crowd (via ComicBook) that he was hearing the theories of fans who could have simulated his own death for these specific reasons. Hiddleston says:

The stabbing movement refers to the slit Loki makes at Thanos's throat. The most diligent fans understood that the God of mischief used his left hand, whereas in past films, Loki tended to attack with his right hand. The suspicious activity looks like this:

This comment led us into a bunch of MCU theories that actually suggest that if you were looking in the background of the scene, you would see a shadow of what appears to be Loki watching Thanos killing Loki. I would do a screengrab for you, but it's really such a gloomy mirage, it shows nothing.

But the rumors about "Loki lives" come from the fact that the character has simulated his own death several times before. And he's screened both as Loki and like other characters in previous Marvel movies. So, the idea that he cheated Thanos is not so unconventional.

In addition, this explains Loki's last line to his brother, Thor, about the sun that brightens them one more day. Could this still happen, perhaps in Avengers 4, while the heroes are working to reverse what Thanos has accomplished?

Tom Hiddleston does not reveal anything. Pressed by a fan, he replied:

But this is not true! Tom's conjecture would be MUCH better than any fan, because he knows he's filmed other scenes as Loki in the MCU. The god of evil and lies.

Even though it's the end of Loki on the big screen, it has been reported that Tom Hiddleston could return to play Loki on Disney's new streaming service, in an original limited series. Could it be settled after Avengers 4, with a resurrected Loki? Or is it a prequel, said well before Loki sacrifices himself to try to stop Thanos? Time will tell us.
