The family of Tom Petty and his former collaborators have compiled a box of four CDs containing material unpublished by Petty and the Heartbreakers, for an exit on September 28, announced SiriusXM. Liberation, called An American Treasure marks Petty's first posthumous material album since his death in October. The SiriusXM show debuted an excerpt from one of the unpublished songs of 1982, a bouncy song about the organs "Keep a Little Soul".
An American Treasure contains unreleased studio recordings, live recordings, deep cuts, and alternative versions of popular Petty songs, according to SiriusXM. The collection will include 60 titles in total. Petty's daughter, Adria, and his wife, Dana, helped select the material with former Heartbreakers Benmont Tench, Mike Campbell and "longtime studio collaborator," Ryan Ulyate. A set of two cheaper CDs will also be available for purchase.
Petty was as prolific as talented. In the eighties and nineties, he released albums at a rapid pace. His studio productivity dropped slightly in the new millennium, when he released an album about every four years. The last album released by Petty under his own name was 2014 Hypnotic Eye . He also contributed to the 2016 Mudcrutch 2 album with members of his pre-Heartbreakers group.
Petty was found unconscious at his home in Malibu on October 2, 2017. He was temporarily transported to the hospital. support of life. He died a few hours later.
In January, a medical examiner ruled that the singer had died from an accidental overdose. Petty had been prescribed medication to treat emphysema, knee problems and a broken hip, according to a statement from her family.
