Tornado Warning issued for Vineyard, Cape Cod

The National Weather Service has warned of a tornado in Cape Cod – and warned of a violent thunderstorm heading for Boston.

At 10:24 am, a violent tornado storm occurred over Sandwich. The storm was moving northeast at a speed of 45 miles at the time.

A confirmed seabass was sighted south of Woods Hole at 0950 and a 65-mile gust of wind was reported in the Woods Hole area at 0958. Chief engineers can see the rotation on their radar, announced the meteorological service.

"This tornado storm will persist mainly in the rural areas of West Central Barnstable County," forecasters said.

Forecasters urged people to go to the shelter. The storm could cause theft of debris and damage moving homes, roofs, windows and cars. It could also bring down trees.

The weather service also issued a violent thunderstorm warning in the Boston area, claiming that a violent thunderstorm in the western suburbs could cause gusts of 60 km / h and be able to cause a tornado.

The storm was on Dover at 9:54 in the morning and was moving northeast at a speed of 30 miles per hour. Damage to trees and power lines is expected.

Places on the way to the storm include Boston, Newton, Waltham, Brookline, Natick, Watertown, Needham, Norwood, Wellesley, Dedham, Walpole, Westwood, Holliston, Medfield, Weston, Norfolk, Millis, Dover and Sherborn.

Forecasters have also warned of severe thunderstorms north of Boston, with winds of more than 40 miles to the hour and brief showers.
