Two people were hit and killed by a scenic train Saturday night in Massachusetts, officials said.
About 360 people were aboard the "Train to Christmas Town", which was en route from Buzzards Bay to Rochester at the time.
The south coast scenic train operator called the police at 19:29. report that two pedestrians were struck near 72 Minot Ave, according to the Plymouth County Attorney's Office. Officers and paramedics on their arrival determined that the victims, a man and a woman, had died.
"The train was a scenic train carrying many passengers at the moment of impact," said the prosecutor's office. "No passengers on the train were injured."
It was the night of the first responders aboard the train, officials said. The Cape Cod Central Railroad said it was the company's last general rehearsal for the Christmas themed rides, which will enter public service next week.
