Travis Scott on 'Saturday Night Live': See the Best Twitter Reactions

Travis Scott fans who tuned into the rapper's Saturday Night Live on Oct. 7 were both confused and pleasantly surprised by his choice of a backing band.

For his first performance, a woozy mash-up of "Skeletons" and "Astrothunder," Scott brought out John Mayer on guitar and Tame Impala's Kevin Parker on bass. It took some fans to recognize the two musicians on stage with Scott.

"Travis Scott got John Mayer on guitar for his SNL set ?! This man is reaching new heights," @ScottyDReports tweeted.

Scott's second performance took a darker turn with eerie silhouettes and bright lights playing off smoke flooding the stage. Drake's intro from "Sicko Mode" piped in before the Houston rapper rolled through the track while strapped into a spinning contraption before he eventually made his way to the floor.

The surreal, dark vibe was enough to impress Roots drummer Questlove, who expressed his admiration on Twitter.

"Been going to #SNL for 9 years now." Seeing that fog / ice lazer reflection jawn in person for @trvisXX was hands down one of the best stage design presentations "I've ever seen – and I've seen alot," Questlove wrote.
