The Clemson Tigers made a change on Monday night before their game against Syracuse on Saturday, naming Trevor Lawrence from Kelly Bryant, Matt Fortuna of athletics.

Head coach Dabo Swinney said Mr. Bryant would get involved in the game plan, according to Kevin McGuire of College Football Talk.

Lawrence, a freshman and 5-star rookie, has been up to the hype so far, scoring 600 yards and nine touchdowns with two interceptions. He lit up Georgia Tech on Saturday, completing 13 of his 18 passes for 176 yards and four touchdowns with an interception.

Swinney greeted Lawrence after the match, by Grace Raynor of the Post and mail:

"He played really well, it was certainly his best game." He was very well placed and I think the game has slowed down for him, he makes good decisions and he is decisive with the ball.

"He's done some great shots, nice shots, he's working every week and every week is a different season, I thought it was really his best game."

Bryant was not poor in 2018, scoring 461 yards and two touchdowns with a choice. He also brings another dimension to the attack with his legs after running for 130 yards and two points. Yet the timing of Swinney's decision forced people to wonder if Bryant could transfer:

Anyway, Lawrence was kind enough to start, even though he said he did have the role the coaches gave him:

"I just have a feeling before the [Georgia Tech] game that this was going to be one of my best games, so it was good. I am comfortable doing what coaches want to do. If they still want to split the reps, I will do it and do my best with that. If they want to give me more reps, like anything, I'll just go out there and play. "

Now, the next time he'll go out and play, he'll do it as the caller of Clemson's starting signal.
