TripAdvisor claims that Alaska has better pizza than Chicago … Um?

[ad_1]

TripAdvisor, where random people evaluate everything from hotels to helicopter rides, has just published a list of the best pizzerias in the country. And the winner is located – wait for it – Boston? Pizzeria Regina, open since 1926, is definitely a surprising choice for first place. (Joseph Hernandez, our Assistant Editor for Food and Beverage, said that he was "meh")

And Chicago? Nowhere else in the top ten.

Which cities did the top ten? How about pizza paradises from Anchorage, Alaska and Tulsa, Oklahoma? To make matters worse, Nashville (Tennessee) does not have one, but two restaurants in the top ten. This is the weirdest list of pizzerias we have ever seen.

What is even more puzzling is that TripAdvisor, in the same breath, has released a list of the top ten pizza cities, with Chicago ranking second behind our historic rival, New York. According to the site, the top-rated pizzeria in Chicago is Lou Malnati, which seems to be a website that focuses on tourism.

Which put us in doubt about the merits of this list. According to the methodology of TripAdvisor, the winners were selected on the basis of "quality and number of evaluations", which means that the most obvious places were much easier than the smallest places.

And should we trust these people? After all, who knows the most about cities? Tourists! Obviously, passengers who fly by spend a minimum of days to reach all obvious places know what is going on.

Compare this to our list of the best pizzerias in Chicago, where we conducted an exhaustive tour of the premises for a month to find the best.

At the very least, the next time you go to Alaska, you'll know where to buy a share.
