President Trump and former President Obama clashed for the second time on Friday night at their second-round rallies as they spoke to the crowd in Indianapolis and Atlanta respectively to explain why voters had to elect candidates from their party.
Obama, at a rally of governor candidate, Stacey Abrams and other Democrats, stressed the importance of the midterm vote of next week, saying that he could be "the most important election of our lives.
"The consequences of staying at home are really serious," he said.
A few days before the vote – and the early voting already taking place in many states – there have been "uninterrupted attempts to divide us," Obama said.
"In four days you can tap into the best angels of our nature. You can be a way to control bad behavior. You can choose a broader, more prosperous and more generous view of America, "he said. "A vision where love and hope overcome hatred. An America where we, the people of this United States, regardless of our appearance, whatever our family name, regardless of where our parents come from, we can come together to shape the path of our country. "
Throughout Obama's speech, he echoed the statements he made at his previous rally in Florida on Friday, saying Republicans "did not start" with the country's recent economic growth.
He also talked about a caravan of Central American migrants heading to the United States and how they have sometimes been described as a danger to the country.
"Now, in 2018, they tell you that the biggest threat to the United States is impoverished refugees thousands of miles away, on foot, with their babies, broke, without money," Obama said. "And you know what, it's not enough to lie about it. Now they send our brave troops, who, by the way, can not enforce the law on the national soil. They send them there for a political tour de force when they could be with their families. The men and women of our armed forces deserve better than that.
Trump, however, campaigning in Indiana for Rep. Mike Braun and his candidacy for the position of Senator of Indiana, said the decision was cruel.
"A blue wave would be like a crime wave, very simple, and a red wave, jobs and security," said the president. A Republican Congress means more jobs and less crime, that 's nice. "
"Tuesday will be a very interesting day," said Trump. "This is not the case two years ago, but it will still be very interesting.
"I need you to vote for a Republican House and a Republican Senate so we can continue this movement," he said.
"I continue to hear about this blue wave running through the heart of the country," Vice President Mike Pence said earlier in the night before Trump spoke. "I think the blue wave is going to hit a red wall, right here in the state of Hoosier, when we send Mike Braun to the US Senate."
