"CNN should be ashamed to see you working for them," Trump told Acosta at a post-election press conference Wednesday.

President Donald Trump, at a rare press conference Wednesday afternoon devoted to the results of the midterm elections, claimed the victory of his Republican party despite "very hostile media coverage, to say nothing" .

A frequent press critic, Trump said: "Media coverage has set a new record and a new standard."

He attacked the journalists during the question and answer part of the press conference.

"CNN should be ashamed to see you working for them," Trump told White House correspondent Jim Acosta after the reporter tried to ask a second question.

Trump continued his attack: "You are a rude and terrible person, you should not work for CNN You are a very rude person. The way you treat Sarah Huckabee Sanders is horrible. You should not treat people with this way. "

While Acosta was preparing to ask another question, after being asked about the demonization of immigrants by Trump, the president had said: "That's enough. "Excuse me, that's enough, put the microphone on."

At one point, Trump told Acosta, "Honestly, let me lead the country, you run CNN."

When Acosta got up for the first time to ask his question, Trump got ready for the fight by saying, "Let's go, let's go."

He also criticized another frequent White House foe, journalist April Ryan, for preventing him from asking a question.

Trump accused Yamiche Alcindor, an African-American correspondent at the White House PBS Newshourto ask a "racist" question.

The president said the Republican candidates had won despite Democratic support from celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, who had endorsed Georgia's governor candidate, Stacy Abrams. Trump said that he likes Winfrey, but added, "I do not know if she likes me anymore."

In his comments, Trump called and mocked Republican candidates who kept their distance and lost their elections on Tuesday night.

Wednesday's press conference was another data point of the White House's long-running battle with CNN and Acosta, who often quarreled with Sanders in the briefing room.
