President Donald Trump campaigned for the best Republican candidates on Wednesday, bringing together a crowd of more than 8,000 in Southwest Florida to support Ron DeSantis as governor and Rick Scott in the US Senate.

The president said Scott had helped secure federal money for the construction of a reservoir south of Lake Okeechobee, an initiative to reduce releases on the east and west coasts of Florida. Scott has been criticized during the campaign for cuts in the state's environmental programs by critics who claim he could have done more to limit releases and the toxic red tide along the coasts.

Scott spent his time praising the president, the achievements of the Trump administration and the support the president gave after Michael.

"Every day he called me," said Scott of Trump. And said, "What do you need? "

Trump also gave DeSantis seven minutes to plead his case at the rally.

"He will continue what Governor Scott has started," Trump said of DeSantis. "Florida's economy is one of the hottest" in the country.

DeSantis spent most of his time criticizing his Democratic opponent, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum.

"He can not protect Florida," said DeSantis about Gillum. And he warned the crowd to "read the fine print" in Gillum's "Medicare for all" proposal. "The government does not have the right to remove the health care benefits you earn," through your employer, DeSantis said.

Supporters waited hours before Trump arrived as the speakers who were making themselves heard: the election day is again 2016.
