Trump hit Swift one day after Nashville singer and longtime resident endorsed Democratic candidate Phil Bredesen, former governor, on Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn during the race in the Tennessee Senate.
"What's she saying?" Trump said with a smile when he was questioned about Swift's comments on Tennessee politics, returning to reporters on South Lawn's White House after hearing the name of the pop star.
After being informed by Swift of his opposition to Blackburn and his support for Bredesen, Trump quickly praised Blackburn, who he said was "doing a great job in Tennessee".
And then he served Swift with a diss.
"I'm sure Taylor Swift has nothing – or does not know anything about it (Blackurn)," Trump said.
And then he laughingly added, "Let's say I love Taylor's music about 25% less now, okay?"
Swift on Sunday approved both Bredesen and Rep. Jim Cooper, a Democrat candidate for re-election in the House, on Instagram, thus disrupting his reluctance to influence politics.
"In the past, I have been reluctant to publicly express my political views, but because of many events in my life and around the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about it now," she wrote in the article.
His post was focused on his opposition to Blackburn, whose voting record said Swift: "I'm shocked and terrified."
"She voted against equal pay for women and voted against the law on the rehabilitation of the Violence against Women Act, which aims to protect women from domestic violence and harassment. She believes that companies have the right to refuse to serve same-sex couples, and that they should not have the right to marry.These are not my values in Tennessee. I will vote for Phil Bredesen in the Senate and Jim Cooper for the House of Representatives, "wrote Swift.
