On the eve of Independence Day, President Donald Trump delivered a speech on the occasion of the Salute to Service. West Virginia saluting the army, the history of America – and the work of US immigration and customs officers.

Trump spent most of his time at Tuesday's dinner, which was taking place at the same time as a golf tournament at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia, commemorating July 4th and the service military. He honored those who died for the security of the country and the founding fathers who created a new Republic.

Trump exalted about the joys of golf before becoming political about his upcoming choice of the Supreme Court and the fire storm centered on immigration. He spoke for 26 minutes.

Saying "we want border security", Trump defeated the Democrats and shut down those who claimed the elimination or reduction of ICE amidst the controversy of separating the migrant children from their families.

"We do not abandon ICE and we do not give up our forces of order," he told the crowd.

He also teased the scheduled announcement on Monday of a new Supreme Court justice, telling the crowd that his choice would be a "home run". Over the past few days, Trump has interviewed several potential choices, including several women.

The golf course owner also featured some of the city's professional players for the tournament, including Bubba Watson, Keegan Bradley, John Daly and Phil Mickelson. He told anecdotes about the golfers, and referred them on several occasions. Noting that he won West Virginia over 40 percentage points in the 2016 election, Trump said, "It's like one of those awesome golfers earning by 9."
