President Trump said on Tuesday that he did not intend to meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, whom he described as "absolutely adorable man," but said he was open to a possible future in the face of face.

Last year, Trump used his UN speech to slam the nuclear deal as "an embarrassment," signaling that Washington was ready to pull out of the deal.
Trump put the kibosh at a meeting after top adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Tuesday rejected a US offer for high-level meetings, according to Reuters.
Rouhani had already rejected a meeting with Trump in the Big Apple, placing an offer of talks on "not genuine".
"Of course, if someone wants to have a meeting and hold a dialogue and progress in relationships, that person will not use the tool of sanctions and threats. [and bring] to bring all its power against another government and another nation, "Rouhani told NBC News.

A year ago, after a speech in which he had criticized Iran at the United Nations General Assembly, Trump reportedly asked for a meeting with his Iranian counterpart but was rejected.
As a prerequisite for any dialogue, Mr. Rouhani said that Mr. Trump should repair the damage done by withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal in May, reinstating economic sanctions against Tehran and urging other countries to stop their purchases.
"This bridge needs to be rebuilt," he told NBC News.
Rouhani said Tehran would remain in agreement – known as the Joint Global Action Plan – despite the withdrawal of the United States, as long as the other signatories would end the agreement to open the door to trade.
"Until our interests are secured with the remaining five countries, we will remain under the JCPOA," Rouhani said, adding that "a unilateral agreement would make no sense."
Iran's Revolutionary Guards, for its part, have maintained the anti-Washington rhetoric, calling Trump "clever and adventurous" and accusing him of waging an economic war against Tehran, Reuters reported.
Trump said in July that he was ready to meet Rouhani without preconditions to negotiate a new deal.
State Secretary Mike Pompeo repeated the offer Sunday and also extended to Khamenei.
"Who's leading the show in Iran? I think it would be an important and interesting conversation, "he told Fox News.
Rouhani did not rule out meetings between the two countries, but he has faced increasing pressure from extremists, including guards, since Trump pulled out of the nuclear deal.
Asked about the offer of talks, Khamenei's former assistant, Ali Akbar Velayati, said: "The dream of Trump and Pompeo would never come true," according to the IRNA news agency.
"The demonic and adventurous American president has focused on an economic war and cruel sanctions to deflect the Iranian nation from revolutionary values and its national interests," the guards said in a statement.
