A recently released audio tape shows President Donald Trump, which appears to shed light on the deaths of four US soldiers killed on 4 October 2017 in an ambush in Niger.
The tape was recorded about two weeks later by former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman during a meeting between the president and his communications team about the ambush and the terrorist movement.
Manigault Newman played the tape on Monday for MSNBC host Craig Melvin and said the president's way of shedding light on the situation shows how "unbalanced and inappropriate" it is.
On the tape, the president explains that the attacks were carried out by Middle East terrorists who went to Africa "to try and, you know, cause problems."

Manigault Newman said the President's cavalier attitude toward soldiers in Niger is even more insulting, given how he spoke to Myeshia Johnson, Sgt's widow. The David Johnson, one of the soldiers killed during the attack.
"He could not remember the name of my husband," said Myeshia Johnson at ABC's "Good Morning America". "I heard him stumbling while trying to remember my husband's name."

According to a report commissioned by The Guardian newspaper, about 200 heavily armed militants attacked US and Nigerian forces on October 4, 2017 in Tongo Tongo Village. Witnesses said they had heard gunshots for six hours without any reinforcement, despite repeated calls from the village chief to the Nigerian authorities.

She also played a recording on "The View" in which Trump could hear that her presidential rival Hillary Clinton "is being killed now with Russia" and that "the real story of Russia is Hillary and collusion".
