JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – President Donald Trump will gather alongside Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith in not one but two Mississippi cities on the eve of his election by the US Senate Nov. 27 against Democrat Mike Espy.
The Trump campaign announced Saturday a rally at 5 pm Monday, November 26 in Tupelo and a second test three hours later in Biloxi.
Hyde-Smith and Espy are fighting over the last two years of a six-year term. Governor Phil Bryant appointed Hyde-Smith, a former state agriculture commissioner, to the Senate after the retirement of US Senator Thad Cochran. In the twentieth century, Espy was the first African-American member of the American House in Mississippi and US Secretary of Agriculture, under the presidency of Bill Clinton.
Trump approved Hyde-Smith in August and they participated in a rally in October in northern Mississippi.
