Trump team finalizes answers to Mueller probe questions, source says

The legal team of President Trump is finalizing answers to the written questions of special advocate Robert Mueller, and could submit them by the end of this week, said Tuesday a source familiar with the matter in Fox News.

The answers concern the question of whether the Trump campaign was linked with the Russian authorities during the 2016 presidential campaign. The president has repeatedly denied any such collusion with Moscow.

NBC News first reported on the progress of the legal team's response to Mueller's questions.

The president's lawyers and Mueller investigators have been engaged in discussions for several months on the possibility of an in-person interview with Trump, as well as on the president's written response to questions. At the end of last month, Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, told Bloomberg News that a face-to-face interview was "secretive," without, however, permanently ruling out that possibility.

Trump's lawyers have repeatedly refused to answer the question of whether the president had impeded justice by firing FBI director James Comey in May 2017. The White House said the president was entitled to have a law suit. 39 to engage and dismiss executive officials, in accordance with Article II. of the Constitution.

Giuliani and Trump's lawyer, Jay Sekulow, did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Tuesday.
