President Trump will provide sworn written responses in the libel suit filed by former "Apprentice" candidate Summer Zervos, who claims that Trump sexually assaulted him in 2007, said a new court.
Trump and Zervos lawyers agreed this week to exchange "written answers and objections" to written questions by September 28, according to a document filed Friday with the New York State Supreme Court. The rules in the state of New York require that inquiries be sworn or verified, according to a source close to the system, which means that false answers could open Trump to perjury charges.
The stipulation agreement represents a step forward in the case, which Trump's lawyers have tried to block several times this year without success. Zervos sued Trump for defamation in early 2017 after calling a liar for allegedly groping and forcibly kissed her 10 years ago. Trump denies any wrongdoing in the case.

Zervos' lawyer Mariann Wang refused to comment on the deal once by email. Marc Kasowitz, Trump's lawyer, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Both parties have been in conflict for discovery for much of the summer.
In a letter sent on August 29 to Judge Jennifer G. Schecter, Wang wrote that Trump and Trump Organization lawyers were blocking her requests for documents.
"There is no doubt that the defendant has the practical ability – and even the obligation – to have directed the preservation and collection of reactive documents from the Trump organization," Wang wrote.
The Zervos case against Trump is one of the many outstanding cases of women with ties to the president.
Adult movie star Stormy Daniels, also known as Stephanie Clifford, is engaged in a highly publicized legal battle to invalidate a 2016 non-disclosure agreement that forced her to talk about having sex with Trump in 2006. This case was delayed as part of a federal investigation into Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer.
Trump denies the allegations of a case.
