Trumps celebrate Halloween at the White House with candy and spooky music

Sunday night, the White House had a decidedly spooky atmosphere, while President Trump and first lady, Melania Trump, welcomed children from military families around a feather on the South Lawn.

A military group interpreted the themes of "The Addams Family", "Harry Potter" and "Bewitched", while the first couple hosted a group of costumed children. Forget the state visits – the president shook hands with highly esteemed personalities, including Captain America, a princess and several species of dinosaurs.

The Trumps (who did not wear costumes) perpetuated the annual tradition in a festive setting: corn stalks wrapped around the marble columns leading to the Truman balcony, fog machines created a disturbing atmosphere and the area in front of the south portico seemed to have sprouted a patch of pumpkin. "Magnificent!" Could we hear the president speak while he admired the children's attire. He threw sweets – the Twizzlers and Hershey pizzas were a gift of choice – to the father of a group.

Activities included the presentation of a combination of NASA's astronaut, a tractor from the Department of Agriculture and emergency vehicles from the Department of Health and Human Services.
