TTwelve parents of a Republican candidate for governorship in Nevada Monday wrote an editorial to oppose him.
"The decision to write this column has not been easy for us," said the dozen parents in the editorial published in the Reno Gazette Journal. "We are writing as members of the Laxalt family who have spent our lives in Nevada and we feel compelled to protect our family name so that it is not exploited and exploited by Adam Laxalt, Republican candidate for the post of governor."
The play was written by Laxalt's aunt and several cousins.
Laxalt is currently Attorney General of Nevada and is the grandson of Nevada Senator Paul Laxalt and President of the late President Ronald Reagan's presidential campaign.

"We would be proud to have a Laxalt running on November 6, whether Republican or Democrat or Independent, as long as we think they would be good for Nevada," wrote the dozen. "We write because we care about Nevada and because we know the truth about this candidate. We think you should too. "
Laxalt, born in Reno and raised in Washington, DC, returned to Nevada in 2013.
Laxalt, who has been approved by President Trump, is facing a battle for the governor against the chairman of Clark's Democratic County Commission, Steve Sisolak.
