Twitter said Thursday that it had "suspended permanently" conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his website, Infowars, for sharing a series of tweets and videos, including verbal attacks against a live reporter of a congressional hearing.

L & # 39; Company said in a statement that she enforced the ban because it was not Jones' first violation. Twitter had already suspended Jones for a week after breaking the site's rules against violent threats.

The ban came a day after Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey testified before lawmakers about his company's practices for moderating online content. Before the start of the hearing, Jones and his supporters surrounded Oliver Darcy, a CNN reporter who covered InfoWars and Twitter. He aired his attacks on Darcy using Periscope, the live streaming site of Twitter.

Asked about the video, Twitter said it was a series of incidents that he had been exposed to over the last 24 hours and was breaking his rules.

In the future, Twitter said that it would now "review other potentially associated accounts at @RealAlexJones or @infowars and take action if any content that violates our policies is posted or if other accounts are used to try to circumvent their ban ".
