Two Drew Brees fans covered 71,941 yards to watch the Saints legend beat the passing yard record

Throwing for 71,941 yards during a career in the NFL is pretty impressive, but it's the same for walking 71,941 yards in a day. Both of these exploits were completed Monday night in New Orleans.

Drew Brees finished the old during victory of the saints Monday night on the Redskins, making him the all-time NFL leader in passing yards. The latter was made by two fans of Brees, who decided to make a monumental trek to pay tribute to the performance of their favorite quarterback and watch him break the record.

Ben Gallagher and Grady Forkin of NFL.com's "The Checkdown" began the 60km pilgrimage to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, Massachusetts, around 3:30 am. They walked all day, crossing the Mississippi River Trail and crossing the French Quarter, before finishing their trip to Mercedes-Benz Superdome in time to take the saints to Washington.

At 3:30 am, the two men began scouring 71,940 yards for Drew Brees, who only needed 201 passes tonight to become the NFL's all-time leading passer.

In fact, they were able to arrive early enough to meet Brees in the field and take a picture of the man who inspired the outrageous expedition that likely caused them a lot of leg pain. Fortunately, they clearly had enough reserves to smile.

Fortunately, everything went as planned. Not only did they complete the hike on time, but they were also able to see Brees set the record and win a victory at the MNF. But can you imagine he has not surpassed Peyton Manning's previous record? It would have been incredibly hilarious. The only thing that looks worse than walking 41 miles is to walk 41 miles for no reason.
