An "exceptionally rare" two-headed copper head snake was found in a yard in the United States.
According to a reptilian specialist who examined the snake after a resident of Woodbridge, Virginia, informed a local animal control company of the discovery, it was one of the few creatures of this type found by the public.
Herpetologist John Kleopfer said "bicephalic", that is to say two-headed, snakes were rarely seen in the wild because of their short life expectancy.
"[There are] Too many daily challenges with two heads, "writes Kleopfer on Facebook.
"We were able to determine that the left head had the esophagus dominant and that the right head had the most developed throat to eat."
A photo of the snake was originally sent to Virginia Wildlife Management and Control, which posted it on Facebook.
"Hi, take a look at these extremely rare photos of a real two-headed Copperhead, which was found in someone's yard in Woodbridge, Virginia, and sent to our Facebook page tonight." ! … cool huh? " the post read.
The Internet also thought it was cool, with images of the snake reaching screens around the world.
But everyone was not a fan.
"Only a good snake is dead, I will kill him," commented one.
"That's what nightmares do," writes another.
According to Kleopfer, the snake could soon become an exhibition in a zoo.
