Two men fired outside elementary school in Overland Park

The Overland Park police said that two construction workers were shot dead Tuesday morning outside of an elementary school in Blue Valley in South Overland Park.

The victims were reported in critical condition. outside elementary school Sunrise Point, 158th Street and Roe Avenue.

At 10:30 am, a police SWAT team surrounded a house on the 160th floor and Rosewood. It was not clear if this was related to the shooting.

Police stated that the injured men were employees of an entrepreneur who were working on the playground outside the school. The company was installing synthetic turf on the playground.

There were no children at school at the time of the shooting.

Police said the suspect was a colleague of the men who had been shot.

The suspect absconded and, minutes later, he attempted to carjacker someone at a car wash at 151st Street and Metcalf Avenue.

Gunshots were fired, but no one was hit. The police said.

A few minutes later, the same suspect stole another vehicle under threat from a gun near 148th Street and Metcalf. This victim was not injured but was shaken.

Police said she was now looking for the suspect last seen driving a black GMC Denali on Metcalf. Overland Park Traffic Engineers were watching the traffic cameras.

"I'm sure we will find this Denali," the police sergeant of Overland Park. John Lacy said.
