Two men from Utah murdered in Oregon, according to police

SALT LAKE CITY – Oregon authorities are investigating the murder of two men from Salt Lake.

Friday just after 3 am, officers from the Oregon Department of Public Safety at Grants Pass received a 911 call signaling a "disturbance" and saying "that there was a firearm" according to a statement from the ministry. The officers arrived at the scene to find two men who had died.

The police arrested a third man who was "involved," the statement said.

Later, the ministry announced that Trevor A. Gilmore, 44, of Grants Pass, had been arrested for opening an investigation into two counts of aggravated murder and the illegal use of a firearm.

"The details of this incident are unclear at the moment," police said.

The deceased men were identified as Justin Scott Severnak, 38, and Christopner Wayne Lyon, 42 years old.

According to a link * GoFundMe set up for men, both came from Utah.

"We lost two of our best family members and we have to take them home to Salt Lake City, Utah from Oregon, as well as our entire family," says the fundraising link.

Tributes and messages of condolence filled the social media and the GoFundMe page on Friday.

"I can not believe the news I received this morning I would not like it to be true Two other people in my life who were close to my heart were kidnapped and their families, "wrote a man on Facebook. "We lost two good guys last night."

"Everyone is shocked, it's so amazing," wrote another on GoFundMe by making a donation. "We love you so much, and your children and your family are in our hearts."

"Rest in peace, buddy Justin Severnak !!! I'm praying for his babies as they try to figure out why (their daddy) is gone!" The heart breaks for him and his loved ones !!!! Angels Stacks, "said another message on Facebook.

The Josephine County Attorney's Office and the Oregon State Police participated in the investigation.
