Two people were taken to hospital on Tuesday after a "white powdery substance" was sent to the US Senator Ted Cruz's Houston campaign office, according to authorities, who said the government's power has been reduced. Was not dangerous.

The substance contained in a suspicious package had been sent to the office tower that houses Cruz's headquarters and resulted in the evacuation of the ninth floor for some time, authorities said.

Two people "felt sick" and were transported to the hospital, according to the local FBI office. The Cruz campaign stated that the two people were not part of the staff.

At 12:41, the Houston Fire Department stated that the evacuation was complete and that "all tests were negative for any dangerous substance".
