SAN FRANCISCO (BCN)
A ferry struck a wharf at the San Francisco ferry building this afternoon, leaving two minor injuries on board, according to a spokeswoman for the Golden Gate Ferry.
The accident occurred around 2 pm. at the terminal along the San Francisco waterfront.
According to Golden Gate Transit District spokeswoman Priya Clemens, the ferry to San Francisco departed from Larkspur and carried 53 passengers.
A passenger was injured on the back but refused treatment. Another passenger was treated at the scene for a hip injury, Clemens said.
Although the vessel and the wharf were damaged, the Ferry Building was not damaged. In addition, the accident resulted in no delay.
"It's a light travel day, so we mean no delays in service or any break in service," Clemens said.
The crew of the ferry is currently under review and will be tested for drugs and alcohol, which, according to Clemens, is a standard protocol for such incidents.
Although Clemens said the cause of the accident appeared to be mechanical, an investigation is underway and could take days.
