Two teenagers were arrested after stealing a plane on a private landing strip in Utah and taking him on a ride in Thanksgiving, reports KUTV, a CBS affiliate. The Uintah County Sheriff's Office said boys aged 14 and 15 were arrested at the Vernal Regional Airport.
KUTV said the teens had left a group home earlier in the week and had gone to tell friends. On Thursday, they stole a single-engine Cessna aircraft after driving to the landing strip with the help of a tractor.
"The plane was flying very low along the US-40 near Gusher, in Uintah County, about 32 miles west of Jensen," the county sheriff wrote. Uintah in a press release. "Based on the information obtained by the investigators, the teenagers mentioned their return to the Wasatch Front, but decided not to do so and returned to Vernal where they landed at the airport."
Police said the two men were held in a youth detention center under several charges.
The Vernal Regional Airport is 170 km southeast of Salt Lake City.
