PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – More than 100 people gathered Sunday to pay homage to the man shot dead in an incident involving two UAP armed officers and to call for the disarming of school officers. .
The student union identified the man who was killed early Friday morning outside the bar Joyer Tortoise while Jason Washington, 45 years old. Officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the man.
Mohamed Tuffa and Zach Walker say that they were involved in the fight that led to the fatal incident. Although they may have been in conflict with Jason's friend, Jeremy, they appeared on Sunday to defend him
The men said that they shared the conversation and laughed with Jason at the bar just before the shooting.
"His friend was making racist comments across the bar and all what this guy was trying to do was protect his friend, "said Zach.
According to the two men, the campus police watched half of the fight without intervening.The officers watched the friend take the Mohamed's phone and crush it before they fall to the ground – this which was done when Jason tried to disassemble them.

Commissioner Loretta Smith also attended the rally for support the students and family of Jason Washington, who was present.
