Uber no longer wants the transport barrier to be a determining factor between voting and not voting. On polling day, Uber will make it easier for people to find their local polling place and work with non-profit organizations to allow certain groups of people to travel freely to the polls.

On November 6, 2018, Uber will offer American runners the opportunity to quickly find their polling station and book a free ride. Lyft also offers free and half-price rides to go to the polls on polling day.

"Decisions are made by those who show up," Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi wrote in a blog post. "On this election day, Uber will do everything in its power to make things easier for people."

In the 2016 election, 35% of youth surveyed cited lack of transportation for not voting.

Uber also works with non-profit organizations to help ensure that riders and drivers are registered to vote before the deadlines. Between today and polling day, Uber will also organize voter registration campaigns in more than 125 centers of its network of drivers across the country.
