LAS VEGAS – Six months after he broke his left knee and underwent major surgery, Tony Ferguson beat Saturday with blood, sweat and tears to consolidate his spectacular return to the 39, UFC 229.
In a brutal and inspiring performance, Ferguson (24-3) survived two rounds of hell against Anthony Pettis until a broken right hand forced the former champion to throw in the towel before the last round of their light duel at T-Mobile Arena. Entered the fight after a run of 10 wins and seeking to propel himself to the title against the main event winner, Ferguson imposed himself relentlessly with shots from different angles when he changed position and was confused Pettis throughout the first round.
