UFC 230: Valentina Shevchenko vs Sijara Eubanks main event set for Nov. 3 in New York

Since it’s New York, we’ll deliver this in our best “Soup Nazi” voice:

No Joanna for you!

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), in its quest to fill the gaping hole that is the UFC 230 pay-per-view (PPV) main event, has scratched the previously-scheduled Valentina Shevchenko vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk showdown and instead shot “Bullet” into a Sijara Eubanks title fight.

That’s according to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.

No question Jedrzejczyk, who was expected to make her 125-pound debut at UFC 231 in Toronto, will get first crack at the winner, assuming she doesn’t drop back down to strawweight in light of today’s news.

UFC 230 is scheduled to take place inside Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sat., Nov. 3, 2018, and will also feature a pair of high-profile fights including Nate Diaz vs. Dustin Poirier and Luke Rockhold vs. Chris Weidman.

After a pair of unsuccessful attempts to dethrone Amanda Nunes at 135 pounds, Shevchenko (15-3) dropped to flyweight and immediately disposed of Brazilian import Priscila Cachoeira. She was expected to fight Nico Montano in the UFC 228 co-main event; however, Montano was pulled from the event after a botched weight cut.

Speaking of Montano, who was recently stripped of her 125-pound strap, she was supposed to fight Eubanks in The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 26 Finale in late 2017, but had her own problems with the scale and got bounced, paving the way for Roxanne Modafferi. “Sarj” (3-2) eventually made her Octagon debut, capturing a decision win over fellow cast mate Lauren Murphy at UFC Fight Night 131.

If you’re drawing a blank, don’t worry, you’re not the only one.
