Memphis coach Penny Hardaway struck again on the recruiting trail. Barely three weeks away from a commitment made by DJ Jeffries, one of the top 50 hopefuls and only once in Kentucky, the freshman coach is ensured the ### 39, # 1 in the 247Sports Composite ranking, James Wiseman.

Wiseman, a 2019 class center of East High in Memphis, Tenn., Chose the Tigers over Kentucky and the state of Florida at an announcement ceremony. Kansas and Vanderbilt were also on his final list.

The 7-foot, 210-pound prospect held close to 20 scholarship offers during her recruitment process, but she returned to Kentucky and Memphis. In the end, the Tigers named Penny Hardaway (who had coached Wiseman to East High a year ago), which allowed them to seal the deal and give them the final benefit on the United Kingdom.

With Wiseman in the group, the Memphis class goes from No. 36 to No. 11 in the national rankings and remains # 1 in the CAA recruiting rankings. He enters a recruiting class that includes Jeffries, a four-star striker, as well as central prospect Malcolm Dandridge, a three-star rookie who is a Wiseman teammate at East High.
