It must be the week, is not it? In a season without a lot of terrible jolts, it may be the week the Earth moves.
The top four in the playoff rankings for college football all face challenges of rivalry. The UCF is trying to finish its second consecutive season without defeat. Maybe we become greedy for a week where we are Assumed gorging.
We have something to be grateful for in the world of university football:
- Efficiency: Alabama and Notre Dame can only qualify for the playoffs this weekend, eight days before the day of the selection of the CFP.
- The Miles, in his sprint position, ready to start hiring after the last Kansas match on Saturday.
- Pat Fitzgerald does it the right way.
- Northwestern, hoping to know the biggest surprise of the season next week in the Big Ten Championship match.
- Jalen Hurts' decision not to transfer from Alabama. This opened the door for Gardner Minshew to go back to the state of Washington and refresh his mustache.
- The Rams and Chiefs who have confirmed to the rest of us that the NFL is ripping off college infractions.
- Dana Holgorsen's hair. (You try to understand.)
- A race of the Heisman Trophy. There is one.
- The wide receiver Texas 'Lil' Jordan Humphrey playing as Big Jordan. Humphrey, a 6-foot-5 ball, used small advanced skills to accumulate 1,000 yards in passes. "He is our best player," said coach Tom Herman.
- The Holy War: It may be that the last BYU match of Utah coach, Kyle Whittingham, occurs if USC calls.
- The Los Angeles Coliseum at night for Notre Dame-USC with something online.
- OK cool. Crochet become a thing (bigger) thanks to Michelle Herman.
- More turkey, less Hokie for Thanksgiving.
What is at stake over the next two days? A lot.
The match: Michigan No. 4 in the state of Ohio No. 10
These two things seem possible: Urban Meyer could win his fourth national title or retire in the near future. It all depends on the Michigan-Ohio State result (noon ET, live broadcast on fuboTV – free trial). The winner wins the Big Ten East. We've already told you how Buckeyes looks like the worst of the best teams. It's an outsider for the first time in 51 games. Something has been missing since the loss of Purdue. Meyer does not look healthy. His defense neither.
But this game is at The Shoe, where Michigan is favored by 4.5. The Wolverines have not won this match since 2011, nor won in Columbus, Ohio, since 2000. They have lost 13 of the last 14 games in this series. That's where the problems start for Jim Harbaugh. This series of 10 consecutive wins does not mean much unless he can finally beat the Buckeyes. In essence, the season will fail if he does not do it. Michigan fans hate the Ohio State more than they will ever like Harbaugh.
"He has to beat Ohio State this week," said Charles Woodson, winner of the Heisman Trophy.
Michigan defender Karan Higdon secured his victory. Yes, it's tired and tired, but the Wolverines are tired and tired of losing. The Big Ten office is secretly – or perhaps overtly – rooted for Harbaugh. He does not want the CFP Selection Committee to compare an Ohio 12-1 state to a state in Alabama, Oklahoma and Washington 12-1. This committee seems to have already made a statement by dropping the Buckeyes at No. 10 this week.
Last Stands: No. 3 Notre Dame at USC
Notre Dame (11-0) must win Saturday night at the Coliseum to win a spot in the CFP. Wow, that quickly took us. It goes without saying that the Irish go from one coast (New York) to the other (Los Angeles) in a week to prove that they are worthy of it.
Brian Kelly is positioned as a very popular product for coaches (NFL) and his team as a worthy candidate in the playoffs. Quarterback Ian Book racked up at least 260 yards and touched several times in his seven starts. Meanwhile, coordinator Don Brown's defense is one of four yet to yield at least 28 points this season. (Clemson, Fresno State and Michigan are the others.)
Judging by the atmosphere in Southern California, USC is already ready to leave Helton. A GoFundMe page has been created to place one of these "Fire Helton" banners over the Colosseum and pay for a full page ad in PDF format. L.A. Times. The loss of UCLA was the last drop. Helton is an honest man and a good coach, but USC stands out with a top coach. That's the problem. There are not many available. Complicating things: a disarray puts USC in a bowl and can give a second thought to the director of sports, Lynn Swann.
Iron Bowl: Auburn at No. 1 in Alabama
Go ahead, try to get excited for one of the most discreet Iron Bowls. Auburn – an outsider with more than three touchdowns – does not intend to fight. This is what bothers Tigers fans. Alabama keeps winning. Auburn is at one year of a double-digit winning season that propelled it to the SEC championship game.
The only thing that Gus Malzahn can count on for his offense; he can not in this one. Running is severely limited. JTarvious Whitlow has not had double-digit rollovers in a month. His last touchdown was September 22nd. That 's the worst attack launched by Auburn since 2012. Is there anything else to agree that quarterback Jarrett Stidham has been a bit disappointing this season?
You may have heard that Alabama has more weapons than the US Department of Defense. Win this one, and Alabama could have won a playoff spot – win or lose against Georgia.
Palmetto clash: South Carolina at No. 2 Clemson
Clemson beat his last six opponents by a combined score of 302-49. South Carolina (6-4) is already eligible. The Tigers have already won a place against Pittsburgh next week in the ACC Championship game. Clemson has won four straight games in the series. South Carolina's best hope: Clemson has not won five straight times in the series since 1938.
Big Baffling 12: Title Game Scenarios
# 14 Texas at Kansas (Friday at noon, live streaming on fuboTV – try for free): If Texas wins, it's in the Big 12 Championship Game Weekly from Saturday. The Longhorns have won 14 of the last 15 games in this series.
Oklahoma # 6 at # 13 West Virginia: The winner gets the other place. David Sills V has made 31 touchdowns since the start of last season.
It's the easy part. Ah, but what happens if the suddenly annoying Jayhawks get up? Remember that it was this monumental upheaval that cost Charlie Strong his job two years ago.
- If Kansas and Oklahoma win, there is a possibility of a tie for third place, which includes the Iowa State (if Cyclones beat Kansas State), Texas and West Virginia. You read that: There is a way for Texas and West Virginia to lose and play for the Big 12 title.
- If Kansas and West Virginia won, this would result in a rematch between Mountaineers-Sooners a week later.
- Oh, and if Oklahoma loses at all over the next two weeks, let's not forget: the Big 12 is virtually eliminated from the playoffs. My brain hurts me.
Apple Cup: No. 16 Washington to No. 8 Washington State
The easy part: the winner takes the Pac-12 North and plays against Utah in the conference league match. The difficult part: the state of Washington at beat Washington for the Pac-12 to fall back on the scale of perception. The admirable part: Mike Leach took a Wazzu team that lost a quarter to suicide and was chosen fifth in the Pac-12 North on the eve of a playoff spot. Add to that the Minshew Escape Campaign in its last season. Leach's recruitment argument to the East Carolina transfer: "Do you want to lead the country in passing?" Minshew does just that. All of this is offered as quick approval for Leach as National Coach of the Year.
Pure and old-fashioned hate: Georgia Tech ranks 5th in Georgia
Georgia Tech destroyed the Sanford Stadium hurdles after a two – year – old resounding victory. Receiver Isaac Hauta said the Yellow Jackets would no longer have that chance on Friday. "I absolutely do not want them to win here again," Nauta said. "We will make sure that it will not happen again." We will see. Georgia Tech has indeed won the last two visits to Georgia.
Sunshine Showdown: Florida's No. 11 in the State of Florida
Florida State (5-6) must beat Florida (8-3) to add to its 37-game losing streak. It's also one of the worst Seminoles teams for years. The story of FSU is good, having won five straight wins in the series. Florida has better alignment. This is the second year in a row that the Gators are facing less than 0.500 FSU. The last time this happened was in 1976. Florida has a potential spot for the New Year's Bowl of the last six years in the first year under coach Dan Mullen. Moreover, she has not beaten the FSU since 2012.
The I-4 war: No. 9 UCF South Florida
UCF (10-0) has climbed to 9th place in the PCP rankings. USF lost four times in a row. A match at the start of the season seemed to decide the AAC. Now? A speed bumper before maybe getting a second straight spot for the Sixth New Year and a spot in the AAC Championship match. Quarterback McKenzie Milton is the ninth national with 33 touchdowns, while he played only nine games.
Continue climbing: # 21 from Utah State to # 23 Boise State
The winner of Utah State-Boise wins the MWC Mountain and plays against Fresno State in the MWC Championship game. The only reason the Utah State is here is because a Colorado State catcher came out of the field, came back and caught the touchdown pass, which would have been winning , on a Hail Mary last week. Except you can not do it, so the Rams did not win the game. Boise is looking for a second conference title away. Look for coaches in this game to take a look at USC, if the Trojans are moving. The team of Matt Wells, coach of Aggies, has won 10 in a row. Bryan Harsin of Boise has almost reached the maximum with the Broncos.
The Heisman Trophy Race
Suddenly, it's a race in New York for the Heisman Ceremony, not the Tua Invitational.
Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray (West Virginia) and Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa (vs. Auburn) look almost the same player when you compare the numbers. Minshew of Wazzu (Washington) has just scored seven touchdowns, creating a tie for three in each category in this category. (Minshew, Ohio State, Dwayne Haskins, Houston, Eriq King – all with 36 years old). Since October 25, Will Grier, quarterback of West Virginia, has launched 11 touchdowns and one interception. That's without mentioning Milton.
It's five guys who deserve a trip to Times Square for the Heisman ceremony. Wondering what is the Heisman Trust's budget for travel?
