We will start with LSU, which then demolished-No. 2 Georgia at Baton Rouge on Saturday. It was a declared victory for the Tigers and they rose eight places to No. 5 because of that.
LSU is so complete. Joe Burrow does not light up the box every week, but you feel good at the center if you're a fan of the Tigers. The LSU racing game is dominant, as usual; he wore 51 times for 275 yards against UGA. The defense has playmakers at every turn.

LSU's run to college football is going to be tough as Alabama is still on schedule. But the game is set in Baton Rouge and, as we have just seen, it is a difficult environment for any opposing team. On the other side, Georgia fell to 8th place with this defeat. But the Bulldogs are still in the playoff race. A loss to LSU should not be a cause for panic per se, but the fact that Georgia has not been too competitive is a concern. The Bulldogs can still participate in the playoffs when they play the table. But an appointment with the outbreak of Florida, which beat LSU in Week 6, is on 27 October.
Just behind LSU is Michigan No. 6, which beat Wisconsin 38-13 on Saturday night. LSU and Michigan have a lot in common. The Wolverines have missed this in recent years. Michigan ran the ball 48 times for 320 yards on Saturday; Karan Higdon is one of the most underrated riders in the country.
Michigan-Ohio State is still a television not to be missed, but this meeting could have direct consequences in the playoffs this year. The Wolverines are ranked ahead of Penn State after Michigan State thwarted the Nittany Lions on Saturday, and the only loss to Michigan (Week 1 at Notre Dame) has little more damaging consequences. No. 7 Texas is perhaps the proof that it's better to lose sooner than later. The Longhorns beat Baylor yesterday, but more importantly, Georgia, West Virginia and Washington were beaten. Texas is in front of everyone. The Big 12 is not a lock to send a team to Play-off College Football, but the Longhorns are the program most likely to succeed at this stage. University football is more fun when Texas is relevant, and that's certainly the case in 2018.
Some other notable teams that have increased: No. 11 in Florida (three places) and No. 12 in Oregon (five places). The Gators' victory over LSU seems even more impressive now; As mentioned earlier, a huge game against Georgia at the end of the month will help determine who represents the SEC East in the title game of the conference. Oregon, meanwhile, survived Saturday in Washington in overtime. The Ducks are a complete team. Just imagine where they would be if they had not fallen dramatically to Stanford a few weeks ago.
Now, for some programs that have dropped out of Georgia: West Virginia lost seven places in 13th place after losing to Iowa State. Anyone can beat anyone in the Big 12. The playoff hopes for mountaineers are not necessarily doomed, but it will be a difficult climb after a dull performance.
Washington lost eight places in 15th after losing to Oregon in Eugene. It seems a little hard at first, but not all the drops are equal. Watch the teams in front of the Huskies and do not separate them a lot. There was an overabundance of schools between 7 and 15 years before this week. It's tough because Washington's two defeats are a neutral match against Auburn and a game against Oregon. Neither is terrible, but Auburn has slipped since then. And when you're a Pac-12 team, you do not have as many opportunities to win signatures as some SEC or Big Ten schools. Anyway, Washington has a lot of talent and could play later as a spoiler.

Penn State lost 10 spots this week, the largest number of schools. The Nittany Lions do not seem to have the same offensive magic as a year ago. It turns out that losing Saquon Barkley stings. Who knew? The Big Ten has a lot of depth as a conference; Penn State just took Ohio State down the line and lost to Michigan State two weeks later. This is another league where anything can happen on a given Saturday.
This may have been the most fun week of college football to date. And we have the impression that we are just beginning.
