The fifth week of the university football season had significant consequences for the playoffs and did not disappoint. Underlined by the No. 4 Ohio State Trip in No. 9 Penn State and No. 7 Stanford-No. 8 Notre Dame, four of the top 10 teams have played marked games with a lot of things at stake.

Together, they had 305 yards per run and three touchdowns, with Etienne receiving two tickets and three scores. The fact is that when you are in third place in the quarterback of week 1 – even if you trust him – it helps to run the ball.
Florida: The Gators got a 13-6 win for freshman Dan Mullen on his first trip to Starkville to face his former team, No. 23 Mississippi State. With the game in play – and after two timeouts – Penn State went ahead with Miles Sanders' defender for a two-yard loss. Did Franklin think of that? Was there a communication problem about the call? Penn State should not have had two opportunities to review its plan. But with quarterback Trace McSorley accounting for almost 94% of the offense (461 out of 492 yards), how was the ball not in his hands? There is an explanation, surely, but it was really as disconcerting as it was anticlimatic.
Offensive halfback Bryce Love from Stanford: This season announces difficult for Love, who has left Stanford's defeat at Notre Dame with what appears to be another ankle injury. Love had 73 rushing yards and a score before leaving the game – not bad, but he still has not managed to get rid of a monster game. And if he faces injury this season, he may not be able to do it. Look, it's hard to repeat as a finalist or winner of the Heisman Trophy. There are so many aspects that go into a season like this, including health. The defenses hit him and he can not stay on the ground. It's unfortunate, but it happens even to the best of them.
Bill Snyder and the benefit of the doubt: Technically, Kansas State lost 19-14 against Texas, so congratulations if you took Bill Snyder and points. The story usually says to do exactly that. However, K-State needed both of those touchdowns because it was a 19-0 match at halftime. That's how things go in Manhattan, where the Longhorns had their first win since 2002. Snyder took advantage of the doubt after years of passing in what was once the worst university football division program . You would not be the only one to believe that Snyder will right the situation. But after five weeks, there is not much to believe. The Wildcats are brutal, especially offensive, and it is not certain that even Snyder can fix it.
Louisville: Neither Louisville nor Florida State are good, but the Cardinals have left one against the Seminoles 28-24. Until 24-21 with a new set of duches and less than two minutes from the end, Louisville chose to move instead of trying to spin a clock – and she was immediately picked up. Five games later, Florida State got the green light. The Cardinals are at the bottom of the Atlantic Atlantic at 0-2 and they will likely not be favored in more than two games for the rest of the season. Alabama and spread: The Crimson Tide was a 49-point comic favorite against Louisiana and the line even climbed to 50 on Saturday morning. First place, Tide, covered the gap at halftime, but lost in a 56-14 loss. No kidding, Alabama was at least a three touchdown favorite in every game and would be a two-digit favorite against literally every team in the country. But as each match is virtually finished after the first quarter or two, who even wants to bet on Alabama?
Washington quarterback Jake Browning: There was not much enthusiasm in Washington's 35-7 victory over BYU, but it was still a big game. Browning became the school's leading passer in the first half of the game, breaking Cody Pickett's 10,220-yard record. Browning needed 150 yards to catch Pickett and finished with 277 yards.
Virginia Tech quarterback Ryan Willis: The junior has three touchdowns in his first start since the ankle injury of Hokies' first striker, Josh Jackson. Virginia Tech beat Duke in Durham 31-14.
To be perfect even in imperfection: The Georgian kicker Rodrigo Blankenship has launched – and arguably – the strangest point you will see this season in a 38-12 win over Tennessee. As "imperfect" as it is, this has allowed Blankenship to be perfect in extra points for his career. Per Seth Emerson of The sport, it was The 114th straight line won by Blankenship. It is now within five years to have tied the school record.
