OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – Tua Tagovailoa had 191 yards and two touchdowns, Jerry Jeudy caught two assists and Alabama smashed Mississippi 62-7 on Saturday night.
Alabama (3-0) allowed a touchdown in the first game of the first game of the Southeast Conference, but responded by scoring the next 62 points. The tide attack was 516 yards total and was so effective that the Tagovailoa evening was completed in the middle of the second quarter.
The left-handed sophomore completed 11 of his 15 passes during his short field run. The Tide then turned to Jalen Hurts, who completed 7 of 10 passes for 85 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
He was so unbalanced that quarterback Mac Jones was in the game before the end of the third quarter.
Ole Miss (2-1, 0-1) suffered a second consecutive loss to the Crimson Tide. The rebels fell 66-3 last year to Tuscaloosa.
Jordan Ta'am completed only seven passes on 22 for 133 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
The game was pending for about 11 seconds. That's the time it took for your friend to find D.K. Metcalf for a 75-yard touchdown in the first game of the match. Ole Miss had a 7-0 lead and a packed Vaught-Hemingway stadium was in full swing.
Alabama would not be fooled anymore.
The Tide scored 49 points at half-time, doing everything he wanted against Ole Miss's defense. There was plenty of evidence that the rebels would have trouble slowing the tide – including giving up 629 total yards in southern Illinois last week – but the attack was still impressive.

Very few people expected Ole Miss to win this match, but a decent result could have given the rebels confidence. Obviously, that did not happen. Ole Miss's defense has been brutal in three games this season and the attack, other than the first 75-yard touchdown, seemed out of sync. The rebels will try to regroup next week against Kent State.
Alabama had its first win of the season, and its most impressive feat was to slow down an Ole Miss attack that was so good for the first two weeks of the season. The high school was burned in the first part, but when Ole Miss tried another deep ball in the next test, Trevon Diggs knocked him down and the Tide achieved a dominant performance.

The Mississippi football team can be very different from one minute to the next.
Catch the rebels in attack and they look like one of the country's elite teams. Catch them on the defensive, and it's easy to wonder how they're going to win a Southeast Conference game this season.
Both units will have to play well when Ole Miss host Alabama No. 1 on Saturday at the opening of the conference for both teams. Ole Miss (2-0) will be about three touchdowns when he faces the Crimson Tide (2-0), who beat the Rebels 66-3 a year ago in Tuscaloosa.
For sophomore coach Ole Miss, Matt Luke, it's a chance to show fans and rookies that Rebels are still a factor in SEC's SEC division.
"We will obviously have a lot of prospects here, and it's a good opportunity for them to see Oxford at its best," said Luke. "The Grove's night game, the stadium is packed, it's going to be a great college football atmosphere."
Choices and forecasts for week 3
If Ole Miss does not manage to stop someone in defense, this atmosphere will become sour quickly.
The rebels currently rank 123rd out of 128 total defense teams, giving up more than 550 yards per game. The main reason they still won their first two games is that the offensive ranks 8th out of 128 in total attack, racking up nearly 600 yards per game.
Ole Miss's offense is stacked with talented players who are likely to have NFL futures, including left tackle Greg Little and receivers A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf and DaMarkus Lodge. The same can not be said of the defense, which lacks star power and has yielded more than 600 yards south of Illinois at FCS last weekend.
The defensive incompetence in this game was surprisingly obvious, with uncovered receivers from southern Illinois making catches easing and bouncing off potential attackers.
The Salukis led Ole Miss 38-35 at half-time on Saturday before the Rebels came back for the 76-41 win. The comfortable final margin did little to mitigate defensive concerns.
Luke and Ole Miss's defensive coordinator, Wesley McGriff, said the rebels' defensive struggles were much more motivated than those of X and O.
"I have to get them off in the first half," McGriff said. "It was not a matter of ploy, we did not change the system in the second half of the year, we, as staff, have to make them work, play them fast, play with a little bit of It's our job. " . "
Ole Miss emphasized the need to put pressure on opposing quarters. The rebels just had a bag against Southern Illinois.
If Alabama's sophomore Tua Tagovailoa is not under duress on Saturday, the Rebels will likely spend a long night. Tagovailoa has completed more than 71% of his passes for 455 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions this season.
"One of our defense goals is to destroy the decision maker," McGriff said. "We have to go to the quarter, we have to have an impact on the game.
